Spring was wetter than usual and the average temperature was warmer, however there were frosts in late October which again, affected many vineyards. The amount of fruit was down on the previous year due to a cooler, damp fruit-set period in the first couple of weeks of December. This was followed by hotter conditions in January. The average summer temperature was almost 2 degrees warmer (23C) than usual. The region had its warmest autumn on record, and below average rainfall.
The Chardonnay and Pinot noir were picked on 27 March and the Riesling in early April.
